Blog #3 You look like your *insert name here*

We human beings obviously are not randomly generated/developed physically nor genetically. We inherited them from our parents and ancestors through the use of our genes or the so called Dominant & Recessive Traits and according to researches that there are over 200 traits that are transmitted from generation to generation in humans.

Meh!

As we grow up traits are beginning to show both physical and genetic aspect from Infancy, Adolescence and Adulthood and other factors that affect our growth and development are by a wide variety of  genetic, cognitive, physical, family, cultural, nutritional, educational, and environmental factors but the genetic factor cannot be affect or changed as we grow up because those traits have been there ever since we were born in other words it is in our nature to have those traits from our parents and ancestors and nurture is also one thing we have to consider because what's the use of having a high IQ (Intelligent Quotient) if you don't go to school to get educated, what's the use of inheriting the above average height from your parents if you don't get the sufficient amount of nourishment from nutrients like water, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and all of those good stuff so nurture plays a big role of our physical and behavioral traits.

My Mom, Chuckie and Me
I'd tried to ask mom about what traits did I get from dad because since birth I didn't grow up with my biological father due to personal issues but my uncles were there that stood up for him and somewhat I didn't get information out of my mom which I didn't really force her to instead I'll just get the Dominant and Recessive traits I got from her.

Me and my mom both have the same eye coloring which is brown, same large eyes, we both have the same hair color which dark and we tend to have thick hair if that counts as a trait, we have the same type of nose which is flat, unfortunately our family doesn't tend to have dimples, we both have the same wide forehead, our earlobes are unattached, the shape of our face/head is round, we're both nearsighted and those type of traits are the Phenotype.

As for the Genotype we both have the allergic rhinitis which means we allergic to dust except for pet hairs and I do think it's kinda weird. We both tend to have the mood swings or sometimes we easily get irritated in some situations which I still do believe it can be avoided or somehow lessen and we also have the same blood type.

I also tend to have early grey hairs that I inherited from my great grandmother and Acne to the face from other relatives so anything that is physical and genetic aspect can run in the family but it doesn't mean that a trait from one relative will also have the same to the parent or vice versa.

Perhaps not all traits can be inherited from our parents it can also be from other older relatives or shall we say our ancestors because there will always be resemblance from our parents that's why they always say the term "like mother like son" or stuff like that.

If you want understand more about Genetics feel free to watch this video where Gregor Mendel (The Father of Modern Genetics) explains through the use of the pea plants he helps us understand Genetics. That ends my blog post and once again guys I hope you've enjoyed my blog post about Dominant and Recessive Traits.

Blog #2 Am I Left Brained or Right Brained?

I really do find it hard to tell if I'm Left or Right brained because I usually use both ways. I even tried to take a Right brained vs Left Brained Creativity test and here is the result.
source: http://www.wherecreativitygoestoschool.com/vancouver/left_right/rb_test.htm

Even though I'm not certain if this creativity test is 100% accurate or trustworthy I still find it convincing or true because I can be a Left Brained person which is good at being logical, realistic and analytic and a Right brained person which more on the artistic/creative, poetic and visuals at the same.

Best examples of me being a Left Brained person is that I like to base on a lot of facts or possibilities in making decisions Although I feel bad when after a long span of critical thinking I don't get the right answer and I think of it strategically but I don't like Mathematics that much. I also kinda like chess or other board games.

Best examples of me being a Right Brained person is I appreciate music based on a lot of genres even though I'm not a musician myself, I also appreciate mother nature because of it's beauty and I like to watch all sorts of entertainment like movies, I like to participate in group dances because I find it fun! Although dancing can be considered analytic in the process because you try to learn the step by step process of each dance moves and it also the same goes with practicing musical instruments as you learn each notes and chords to complete a beat and rhythm.

So I tried to think again of what particular activity that can describe me as both Left and Right Brained is Gaming It is Strategical in a way that you have to make your way on how to finish a certain task or objective given from that certain game it is also artistic because of the appreciation of the levels and graphics design of that certain game like one example of a game that I usually play is Defense Of the Ancients (dota) It is a Multiplayer Online Based Action (MOBA) where teamwork and strategy is required in order to win the game I tend to appreciate how the game is made based on it's mechanics and visuals and you can also have a good time bonding with your friends when playing this game.

DOTA 2
I don't usually play computer games anymore these days because I need to focus or give more time on my studies as my course gets more difficult as I progress unto a higher year level and also so that I can have a brighter future and I won't end up just sitting down here in front of the computer checking the internet or playing computer games all day in short having "no life" as what people would say.

So how about you sir/ma'am? Have you asked yourself which side of your brain you're really good at most?
I hope we've all learned something here today so that ends my blog post for today thank you for giving your time reading this blog I hope you guys have enjoyed!

Blog #1 Intro

Introduction

Hello,

My name is Carl Kevin P. Ranara, a college student studying at De La Salle Araneta University (DLSAU) taking up Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I am 17 years old. This blog was made because I want to express my own opinion and learnings that anything about Psychology, and maybe someone might stumble upon this blog in hopes that they also might learn here.

Okay so what have I learned so far in this subject? Well according to my notes General Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. I think Psychology for me is the study on how do people think then react to the environment, people, things and self which was explained by Ma'am Braga (My Psychology Professor) that in the Behaviorism by John B. Watson there's a corresponding response in every stimulus an example of that there is a bus heading towards you which is the stimulus your response would most likely be like is to evade that bus and between that stimulus and response is the freedom to choose which may include self-awareness, imagination, conscience and even independent which is shown in the figure. This type of conditioning is called the Classical conditioning and the other one would be the Operant conditioning, it is a way of learning that happens through reinforcements and punishment.
Iceberg Theory

However Behaviorism by John B. Watson is only a part of the History of Psychology and some critics say that it''s a quite linear way of understanding how the human behavior works that's why there are still theories by psychologists that follows and one of those studies is the Psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud which explains that the human behavior can be explained in sex aggression and pleasure

Sigmund Freud
He also formulated the theory of the unconscious or the iceberg theory He related an iceberg to our minds because only 1/7 of our mind is conscious while the rest is not and that unconscious mind are Vinformations that we don't know but it is stored which may provide a significant and disturbing influence in our mind which I actually find it creepy yet interesting on how the human behavior works.

Sigmund Freud also formulated The Stages of Development
"1.) Oral; 2.) Anal; 3.) Phallic; 4.) Latency; 5.) Genital
As for me Im pretty sure Im at the Genital stage because I do gain pleasure upon masturbating at least twice a day, so yeah I think you guys understand how these stages works, It is measured upon when and how you gain pleasure which corresponds to these stages like most babies gain pleasure upon putting most likely anything to their mouths. These theories for me are somewhat true and convincing and other people would react as these theories are insane but if you'll try to look more close and have a deeper understanding you might realize that He has a good point.

So far that's what I've learned in General Psychology even though I'm not  BS Psychology myself I still do find this subject very interesting to be honest and I would be making more blogs about this subject with constant updates, researches, opinions and such. If you any more suggestions that will help me improve my first time blogging please do. Thank you and once again Welcome to my Blog! :)
